INTERVIEWER: I notice you work in the Atlanta, GA Office. Is Atlanta your home? Alan: I was actually born in Rhode Island. I lived there until about the age of 25 when I moved to Pennsylvania. I lived in Pennsylvania for 15yrs and then moved to Atlanta to work for Judge and reside in Alpharetta GA with my wife Susan and my kids Dave, Steve and Rachel and our dog Sparky! INTERVIEWER: Talk to us a little bit about your background. Alan: I graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a BA in broadcast journalism and speech communications. I received a teaching scholarship to the State University of New York at Albany where I received my Masters degree in Rhetoric and Communication. When I graduated from college I spent several years in the cable television industry before changing careers to the food industry and working for Wholesale Club as a zone manager of sales and marketing. I changed careers when we moved our family to Georgia to be closer to family. I started as a recruiter with Judge in 2000. I now manage the Atlanta office and being a recruiter is the best job I have ever had in my career! If someone has solid sales experience and enjoys the phone, this is the best job ever! INTERVIEWER: I notice you specialize in the placement of Food, Beverage Manufacturing Professionals. What trends do you see in that industry right now? Alan: I see that our business is booming! It is hard to find the A+ candidates who have the skill sets clients desire. I think most clients are tired of going through 500+ resumes when they run a monster ad or spending money on newspaper ads with poor results. What we provide is a targeted search bringing them a small number of solid candidates who they can quickly screen, interview and hire. As the economy continues to grow and the unemployment rates continue to drop, clients will want our services even more as the strong candidates who may not is actively looking become even harder to find. INTERVIEWER: What Skill Sets seem to be in Demand these days? Alan: The maintenance people are a hot commodity! The maintenance techs, supervisors and managers are in demand in our industry. In addition, with the many problems in recalls recently with food products, companies are looking for the strong quality assurance managers and supervisors with science degrees who can help them upgrade their testing and ultimately improve the quality of their products around the country.
